Dear friends,
This year, unfortunately, we are not able to gather, dance and sing together in one place as we did at last year's Svetosava Ball in Basel. What stopped the world also stopped us, but it did not stop us from bringing the Svetosava Ball to your homes in this way.
We would like to thank everyone for the help they gave us to make this our ball a beautiful tradition.
Looking forward to seeing you next year in a ballroom, we hope you enjoy our online ball as much as we enjoyed creating it for all of us.

Let's go back to the times of balls, let's evoke the atmosphere of Serbian courts of the 19th and 20th centuries!
Let's celebrate the greatest Serbian educator Saint Sava!
Hall Metro, Grand Casino Basel
Flughafenstrasse 225, 4056 Basel

Description:
The tradition of holding balls among Serbs begins in the 20s of the 19th century, but the biggest and most important ball of the year is the Svetosava Ball, first organized by Prince Miloš Obrenović in 1846 in Vienna. The St. Sava Ball originated from the tradition of Savindan, the celebration of St. Sava as a school celebration.
Since then, the Svetosava Balls have been and are being held in Serbia and all over the world where Serbs live, with one longer break after the Second World War.
The "Soko" art center decided to bring us back to the wonderful, old times that we all remember with a set, so that the ladies again put on the most luxurious gowns, the men put on bow ties, and the children imagine that at least for that one evening they are grown up and strutting around in fluffy dresses and miniature suits.
We hope that everyone will enjoy dancing the inevitable King's Circle, which started every ball attended by someone from the ruling dynasty, as well as many other old town dances and waltzes.
The breaks between the dance blocks will be filled with old town music, and the end, as then and now, is reserved for a block of folk music. In order not to forget that St. Sava is, above all, the patron saint of students and educational workers, at the very beginning, after the Hymn to St. Sava, the children will perform a small cultural program.
Participants:
Tatjana Vucelic, violinist
People of good will, who want to help this ball with their dancing and singing talents to really take on the dimension of something new and different.
